Comedy Club Gets Paid With Text Messages
Online, September 6, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Comedy Club accepts payment for tickets from text messages on cell
phones. Sebastian Comedy Society, LLC announced this week that its
premier comedy venue Thursday LOL will now be able to take
payments for tickets from text messages on cell phones though
Venmo system. Venmo is a SMS-based Payment Platform and a
new way to pay and get paid using a cell phone, by sending a text
message.
What if you could send money to a friend simply by tapping out a
message on your phone? Well you can now buy comedy show tickets
this way. Thursday LOL Stand-Up Comedy Show held weekly at the
Costa d' Este Beach Resort in Vero Beach just began this new
service for its audience members. "We noticed many younger
customers sending us requests for show tickets with their cell
phones from the hotel bar thirty minutes before show time" says
Managing Partner Pete O'Neil. "Now they can request and purchase
show tickets in one step without going to an ATM machine or
pulling out their credit cards."
Venmo is the brainchild of a couple Penn guys who've developed
infrastructures for other people's projects (bit.ly & TicketLeap),
it is based in Philadelphia PA. Venmo's a free service that
allows payments of any kind, from friendly wagers to dinner
bills, to be fully processed via text message - Once registered,
users can make payments simply by texting the transaction amount
and recipient's cell number.
