Comedy Club accepts payment for tickets from text messages on cell

phones. Sebastian Comedy Society, LLC announced this week that its

premier comedy venue Thursday LOL will now be able to take

payments for tickets from text messages on cell phones though

Venmo system. Venmo is a SMS-based Payment Platform and a

new way to pay and get paid using a cell phone, by sending a text

message.

What if you could send money to a friend simply by tapping out a

message on your phone? Well you can now buy comedy show tickets

this way. Thursday LOL Stand-Up Comedy Show held weekly at the

Costa d' Este Beach Resort in Vero Beach just began this new

service for its audience members. "We noticed many younger

customers sending us requests for show tickets with their cell

phones from the hotel bar thirty minutes before show time" says

Managing Partner Pete O'Neil. "Now they can request and purchase

show tickets in one step without going to an ATM machine or

pulling out their credit cards."

Venmo is the brainchild of a couple Penn guys who've developed

infrastructures for other people's projects (bit.ly & TicketLeap),

it is based in Philadelphia PA. Venmo's a free service that

allows payments of any kind, from friendly wagers to dinner

bills, to be fully processed via text message - Once registered,

users can make payments simply by texting the transaction amount

and recipient's cell number.
