CommCore CEO To Present Workshop On Crisis Communications For U.S. Agricultural Export Development Council

What can the agriculture industry learn from recent crises such as the outbreak of Listeria in cantaloupes and meats? How well - or poorly - did the industry assess the situations and handle its internal and external communications challenges?

What can the agriculture industry learn from recent crises such as the outbreak of Listeria in cantaloupes and meats? How well - or poorly - did the industry assess the situations and handle its internal and external communications challenges?

In an interactive workshop sponsored by the U. S. Agricultural Export Development Council (USAEDC), Andrew Gilman, CEO of specialty communications firm CommCore, will present relevant crisis case studies that focus on how social media plays a major role in turning a problem into a full blown crisis, and explain how professional communicators need to monitor and respond. Co-presenters will be Colorado wheat farmer and national social media activist Chris Tallman, and Melissa Kessler, Director of Communications, National Association of Wheat Growers.

The program is part of the USAEDC's Annual Workshop program, and runs from 2pm to 3pm on November 20, 2013. The USAEDC event, is to be held in Baltimore, MD.

"If the mantra in real estate is location, location, location, then the crisis mantra is preparation, preparation, preparation" said Andrew Gilman. "We hope the program helps exporters plan and prepare for greater success in global markets."
