Common Sense Society and the Roger Scruton Legacy Foundation Welcome Nominations for the 2023 Sir Roger Scruton Prize Laureate
WASHINGTON, September 21, 2022 (Newswire.com) - Common Sense Society (CSS), a leading international educational network, and the Roger Scruton Legacy Foundation (RSLF), an organization dedicated to promoting the legacy of the English philosopher and writer Sir Roger Scruton (1944-2020), are pleased to announce that nominations are open for the 2023 Sir Roger Scruton Prize.
CSS and RSLF award the Scruton Prize annually to an individual whose lifetime achievements significantly advanced the humanities and made important contributions to areas such as their country's political life, academic research, the natural or built environment, the arts and culture, our understanding of Western civilization, or the institutions that support civil society. Dr. Jordan Peterson, the 2022 Scruton Prize laureate, was recognized for his work related to personal responsibility and intellectual freedom in academia. "Sir Roger Scruton championed the ideals that are the foundation of our civilization," said CSS President and CEO Marion Smith. "His work continues to be a gift for the ages. We're eager to review the nominations of those who dedicate their time and resources to promoting the same causes that Sir Roger Scruton once did."
"The world lost a giant when Sir Roger Scruton passed away," said RSLF founder and executive director Fisher Derderian. "We're pleased to partner with CSS and the Scruton Prize selection committee to honor his legacy and the work of one distinguished individual who is walking in his steps."
CSS and SRLF welcome nominations for the 2023 Scruton Prize laureate. Following the close of the nomination period on Nov. 1, 2022, the Committee will convene to review nominations and announce the laureate in January 2023, followed by an award ceremony in early spring. More information about the distinguished Committee and instructions on the nomination process can be found here.
