Community Health Charities of the Southeast Celebrates Expansion, Honors Corporate Partners at Special Event
Online, June 18, 2013 (Newswire.com) - This has been a year of great change for Community Health Charities of the Southeast, formerly known as Community Health Charities of Georgia. After expanding operations into Alabama and announcing a new brand strategy and program for the workplace, Engagement 365, Community Health Charities of the Southeast recently hosted a special event celebrating employers who promote a culture of health, giving and volunteerism in their workplace.
One of every four employees is currently dealing with a chronic health issue, whether they are sick themselves or caring for someone they love. In keeping with the event's theme "Business & Health: A Powerful Partnership," Community Health Charities of the Southeast honored the following groups and individuals:
• 2013 Champion in Health Award - Ed Baker, Publisher and the Atlanta Business Chronicle for their ongoing media spotlight on health issues, including Atlanta's Healthiest Employers
• Hero in Health - Spirit Award - Xavier (Lew) Lewis, Director of the Heart of Alabama Combined Federal Campaign, whose support helped our Alabama charities qualify for this important campaign in multiple regions under an extremely short deadline
• Hero in Health - Growth Award - United HealthGroup, whose Georgia campaign in 2012 totaled $48,842, a 46% growth rate from 2011.
• Honored Guests - The winners and nominees of 2013 Atlanta's Healthiest Employers were also recognized
Community Health Charities of the Southeast partners with local companies to connect employees with the extensive resources and support programs of Georgia and Alabama's most trusted health charities. Free programs now available include Health Matters at Work ® (newsletters, webinars and podcasts) and Volunteer Matters 365 ® (a customizable search tool for local volunteer opportunities). Employees also
have the opportunity to give to the health causes that are most important to them, an option that enhances any existing workplace giving program.
"We are blessed to partner with heroes in the truest sense - the companies and generous employees who make research, education and support possible by donating to our charities so they can continue their work. In turn, we provide 24/7 access to reliable health information and volunteer opportunities for the health causes they care about," said Brenda Horne, CEO of Community Health Charities of the Southeast. "We look forward to continued strong partnerships that will impact people's lives in the months and years ahead."
