Compass to Care Childhood Cancer Foundation Appoints New Board Members
Online, May 3, 2013 (Newswire.com) - Compass to Care, The Mike & Sandy Ernsdorff Childhood Cancer Foundation, announces the appointment of Jannine S. Givray, Andrew F. Merrick, and Glenn Solan to its Board of Directors.
Jannine S. Givray
Jannine Givray brings a unique combination of professional and philanthropic experience to Compass to Care's Board. As a Master's graduate in Exercise Physiology, she practiced as a teacher and coach before embarking on a successful career in sales and promotional marketing.
Jannine also brings a passion for charity and helping those in need. She has served as a Committee member, Auxiliary Board President, and Gala Co-Chair of The Children's Place Association, a nonprofit that provides services to children affected by HIV/AIDS and other health conditions.
Jannine's husband Henry, a childhood cancer survivor, is CEO of SmithBucklin Corporation, the world's largest association management company. Jannine and Henry support numerous charitable organizations, including the Greater Chicago Food Depository, Wounded Warriors, The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and American Cancer Society. Jannine's skills and experience provide an invaluable addition to furthering the mission of Compass to Care.
Andrew F. Merrick
Andrew F. Merrick is an attorney with the law firm of Jenner & Block LLP. He is a member of the Firm's Complex Commercial Litigation Practice where he represents corporations in a broad range of complex commercial disputes involving a variety of substantive legal areas, including breach of contract, unfair competition and other business torts, deceptive trade practices, and cases arising under the Uniform Commercial Code. Andrew also has extensive experience representing clients in class action and securities litigation matters in federal and state courts across the country.
Andrew maintains an active pro bono practice and has devoted almost 1,500 hours to representing indigent clients in a wide variety of civil and criminal matters. He is a member of the Trial Bar for the Northern District of Illinois and former Chairman of the Securities Law Committee for the Chicago Bar Association. He also dedicates significant time to recruiting and mentoring new associates and is a recent recipient of the Jenner & Block Mentoring Award.
Andrew received his B.A. from Miami University in 2003 and his J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law at the Illinois Institute of Technology in 2006. He lives in the northern suburbs with his wife and two children and is thrilled about the opportunity to join Compass to Care.
Glenn Solan
Glenn Solan is a Transaction Advisory Services Director for Grant Thornton LLP. His responsibility lies in leading transaction advisory service assignment, including due diligence on both the purchase and the sale side of transactions, for companies worth between $10 million and $200 million. He has worked on over 250 transactions in both the United Kingdom and the United States.
Glenn has been involved in charitable work with Asthma UK and Mencap, both in the United Kingdom. He also helped organize a 200-mile bike ride for U.K.-based Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
Glenn received his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of East Anglia in the United Kingdom and became FCA qualified in 1995. He relocated to the United State in 2011 with his wife and six children.

Compass to Care now has nine Directors serving on its Board. In addition to Jannine, Andrew and Glenn, the members include Michelle Ernsdorff, Mario Alberico, former partner at Accenture, Dina L. Bright, the vice president of finance and accounting at Jackmont Hospitality, Paul Miller, the principal at Pauliegroup, LLC and Mike and Sandy Ernsdorff, after whom the foundation was named.
