Movement Interactive, Inc. named among seven startups for Flinn Foundation's 2021 Bioscience Entrepreneurship Program

Movement Interactive, Inc., maker of the patented concussion monitoring Hiji®Band, is one of seven Arizona-based bioscience startups selected for the Flinn Foundation's 2021 Bioscience Entrepreneurship Program.

Since 2016, Movement Interactive, Inc. has interviewed over 500 youth athletes and parents to design a comfortable, stylish athletic headband to house the revolutionary Hiji®Band. The sensor monitors impacts for potential concussions, transmitting data from the sensor directly to a mobile app. When compared to an individual's custom baseline data, concussions can be detected and treated in time to help prevent further injury.

Movement Interactive is also currently working on ways to incorporate their sensor technology into elderly care; more specifically predicting and detecting falls within the aging population.

CEO and Founder of Movement Interactive, Inc., Dr. Eric Luster says, "We are extremely excited to join the Flinn Foundation's Bioscience Entrepreneurship Program family! Movement interactive is on a mission to provide life-saving technologies that are aligned with Arizona's Bioscience Roadmap. We look forward to the next phase of growth, together!"

The Flinn Foundation is a privately endowed, philanthropic grant-making organization established in 1965 by Dr. Robert S. and Irene P. Flinn to improve the quality of life in Arizona to benefit future generations.

The Flinn Foundation's Bioscience Entrepreneurship Program provides a customized plan to help participating firms advance connections with the state's bioscience leaders in enterprise, analysis, and coverage. Since 2014, The Flinn Foundation has selected 47 bioscience firms in Arizona to take part in the program and has provided nearly $1.4 million in support.

The other 2021 program winners are Botanisol Analytics (Phoenix), LabPair (Tucson), Paxauris (Phoenix), Satori Orthopaedics (Phoenix), Scintillation Nanotechnologies (Tucson) and TapRoot Interventions & Solutions (Phoenix).

These companies range from synthetic intelligence to help Alzheimer's illness caregivers and fast virus screeners, to new applied sciences for surgical procedures and drug discovery.

"We are thrilled to welcome these seven Arizona startups into our program, which we believe will accelerate their path to success in the biosciences and lead to innovations that will improve the lives of Arizonans and people around the world," said Tammy McLeod, Flinn Foundation president and CEO.

Movement Interactive, Inc. is a developer of wearable technology to address undiagnosed concussions and unreported falls. The Phoenix-based company is the maker of the patented Hiji®Band, a comfortable and versatile headband with a Bluetooth sensor that connects to the Hiji®Band mobile app to provide real-time data directly to parents and coaches about possible concussion-strength impacts.
