Consuming Fewer Calories Can Slow Aging and Onset of Disease

Online, November 30, 2011 (Newswire.com) - A recent study from the University of Gothenburg in Sweden found that by consuming fewer calories, aging can be slowed down and the development of age-related diseases, like type 2 diabetes and cancer, can be delayed.
Researchers found that caloric restriction slows down aging by preventing an enzyme called peroxiredoxin from being inactivated. Peroxiredoxin also plays a major role in preventing genetic damage.
