A modern art event featuring work from the artist Rosemary Abrahams was successfully opened on Saturday 24th April. It took place at Sewerby Hall, Yorkshire where Rosemary resides. The exhibition was formally opened by Councillor David Rudd Vice-Chairman of East Riding Yorkshire Council. Rosemary's most current series of paintings shall be on show in the grand surroundings of Sewerby Hall, Bridlington, East Yorkshire, UK till the 16th May. There are close to one hundred paintings in the exhibition which includes abstract paintings, seascapes paintings, landscapes paintings and flower paintings. The paintings shall be on display within the West Wing Gallery which shall be open every day between 10am-5pm. The paintings shall be offered for sale during the exhibition. The paintings vary from small intimate works of around 20cm square up to larger canvasses over 2 meters in size. The surface of this work is enriched because of the use of a thick plaster ground which then permits the application of both colour washes and saturated colour. The paintings are additionally enriched by the application of metal foils and pearlescent pigments.

The popular artist Peter M. Hicks stated this about Rosemary - "Rosemary is one of those uncommon people who've created a very good living from her artistic practice. The variety of her much more recent paintings consists of landscapes, seascapes, what she refers to as her 'florals' which are rich in color and full of vitality and then her amazing array of abstracts. A branch of her family was originally from Russia where in their artwork they used metallic colour, especially gold in their famous Icon's. Rosemary too creates many pictures that seem to re-invoke the symbol of the Icon".

Rosemary's site is being re-launched simultaneously as the exhibition. You can find her website at http://www.rosemaryabrahams.co.uk. After the exhibition has concluded at the end of May the paintings shall be available for sale on the website along with art prints . Throughout her working life Rosemary has been involved with art and design. Most of the time she led a design studio responsible for designing a wide selection of home and style goods throughout the world. These have included hand made rugs in Nepal, jute products in Bangladesh, ceramics in Europe, carpets in the USA and much more. Rosemary is currently focusing her commitment and creativity on her paintings and will showcase these on her revamped website.
