Control Sod Webworms Organically Without Using Harsh Chemicals
Biological Caterpillar & Webworm Control From Summit Responsible Solutions Effectively Kills Sod Webworms and Other Caterpillars
BALTIMORE, August 21, 2020 (Newswire.com) - An infestation of sod webworms is causing homeowners in Texas and elsewhere to find effective ways to kill these caterpillar pests. Fortunately, an organic bacterium called Bacillus thuringiensis kurstaki (BTK) kills sod webworms and other caterpillars without the need to use harsh chemicals.
BTK is the active ingredient in Summit® Biological Caterpillar & Webworm Control, which is a 100% natural alternative to synthetic broad-use chemical insecticides. BTK is a naturally occurring bacterium that effectively kills sod webworms and the caterpillars of other insect pests, but it has no effect on birds, earthworms or beneficial insects such as honeybees and ladybugs.
Summit® Biological Caterpillar & Webworm Control is OMRI Listed and approved for organic gardening, and it contains no synthetic toxins. Unlike chemical insecticides that indiscriminately kill all insects, BTK kills only the caterpillar stage of specific pest insects.
How to Kill Sod Webworms
Sod webworms emerge from the ground in the evening to feed on grass blades. They often chew off grass blades and take them into the soil, where they feed. That’s why the BTK spray is most effective when it is applied in the early evening. When sod webworms eat turfgrass blades sprayed with Summit® Biological Caterpillar & Webworm Control, the BTK in the spray causes them to immediately stop feeding until they die of starvation.
Thoroughly spray Summit® Biological Caterpillar & Webworm Control on the lawn as soon as any signs of sod webworms are noticed. The BTK spray can also be used as a preventative if sod webworms have been damaging lawns in the neighborhood. BTK does not present risks to beneficial insects or people, pets or wildlife. Repeat every five to seven days if needed.
Summit® Biological Caterpillar & Webworm Control spray can also be used weekly to effectively control leaf-feeding caterpillars including bagworms, tent caterpillars, tomato hornworms, cabbage loppers, imported cabbage worms, spring cankerworms, fall webworms, gypsy moths, and more.
Just mix Summit® Biological Caterpillar & Webworm Control concentrate with water according to label instructions and spray on turfgrass, vegetable plants, trees and shrubs. Apply thoroughly to cover all foliage surfaces. Apply at the first sign of infestation and repeat at weekly intervals as needed to maintain control.
Summit® Biological Caterpillar & Webworm Control is Mother Nature’s way of controlling sod webworms and other caterpillars. It is available in a one-pint concentrate bottle, a one-quart concentrate bottle and a ready-to-spray one-quart hose-end bottle.
