Controversial Book About Vampires Dropped By Publisher, Horrotica Publications

Horrotica Publications decides to drops Controversial Book, "Lamia - The Awakening."

Horrotica Publications (an imprint of MythWurks Publications), announced today that they are dropping the contract with author Destiny West and her controversial vampire book, "Lamia - The Awakening."

The author has been seeking a exit from her contract with Horrotica Publications, after she expressed a displeasure with a few of the company's distribution outlets since the beginning of this year. Officials of MythWurks Corporation (the parent company of Horrotica Publications) were unable to reach an agreement with West, which lead to the initial drop of her contract and book.

"Unfortunately, there were a lot of misunderstandings prior to the contract signing," said David K. Montoya, Chief Executive Officer and President of MythWurks Corporation LLC. "Ms. West expected more from us initially than we were able to provide, while we misunderstood that she had a collected readership of people outside of her Facebook and Twitter followers."

This stems from MythWurks' 2010 policy, which states that all to-be-published authors must have a strong fan following to be eligible to be published by the company. MythWurks only considers 10% of Facebook or Twitter followers as actual fans, who might purchase a book from the forthcoming author.

After the 2011 release of "Lamia - The Awakening," West's first novel was poorly received in the U.S., becoming the lowest selling publication that year for Horrotica Publications and its parent company.

"There were unfortunate and unexpected problems on both sides of this project," said Terry D. Scheerer, Chief Operating Officer and Editor in Chief of MythWurks Corporation LLC, "and while we must part company with author, I do wish Ms. West the best of luck with her future endeavors."

It was agreed on Friday to release the rights back to the author and to cancel her contract. Miss West has already found a new publisher for 'Lamia' and says the re-release is due out soon.
