Core Telecom MD Races To Help The Disabilities Trust
Online, September 23, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Paul Turner, Managing Director of Leeds-based Core Telecom, went racing to support The Disabilities Trust, one of the UK's largest and highest profile charities this week.
A keen, competitive cyclist, Paul took part in the Cyclothon UK event at Brands Hatch on Thursday 16 September and raised over £1800 in aid of The Disabilities Trust, including £900 match funding from Core's Chief Executive, Mahmaood Mazhar.
Cyclothon UK is an endurance cycling race which lasts up to 12 hours and challenges the participants to complete as many laps of the undulating 2.3mile Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit as they can. The event welcomed both experienced and inexperienced riders, corporate teams, cycling club teams, and friends coming together to form teams in order to raise money for charity. Even international sports stars such as England rugby legends Victor Uboghu and Rory Underwood took part.
Paul said, "Against a field of hundreds of riders, I was delighted to clock the 3rd fastest lap of the day, but more importantly, I raised a significant amount of money for a fantastic cause."
Mahmood Mazhar, Chief Executive of Core Telecom, is a long-time supporter of The Disabilities Trust, "Paul put in an amazing performance, and as Core Telecom provides continued support to Disabilities Trust it was superb that he raised so much money on their behalf."
Core Telecom has made significant charitable donations over the last year in order to; aid research into diabetes (Diabetes UK) and cancer (Cancer Research UK and Brown Dog); help orphaned children in Malawi (Raising Malawi); and fund new community facilities (Full Life Church in Maltby).
The Disabilities Trust was founded in 1979 to provide personal care and specialist housing for people with special needs. It now provides purpose-built accommodation, community-based housing, respite care, education, community enabling and rehabilitation for people with autism, brain injuries, physical disabilities and learning disabilities.
Core Telecom is an independent network operator which provides a full range of non geographic phone numbers, coupled with industry-leading call management solutions and ultra-reliable outpayments for call revenue-share.
