Covenant Presbyterian Church Names The Rev. Dr. Paul H. Parsons as Interim Senior Pastor

Online, July 5, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Covenant Presbyterian Church today announced that the Rev. Dr. Paul H. Parsons has been named interim senior pastor. Parsons' first Sunday in the Covenant pulpit will be July 10.

Parsons' unique experience - both as a pastor and an interim pastor - makes him an ideal match for Covenant. Most recently, Parsons was Senior Associate Pastor of Missional Strategies and Discipleship of First Presbyterian, Colorado Springs (FPC). Prior to that, Parsons served as interim senior pastor of Colonial Presbyterian Church in Kansas City from 2006-08. He was also interim of Westminster Presbyterian Church in San Jose, Calif.

Parsons, a graduate of The Johns Hopkins University and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, said he is excited about this opportunity in Austin. "I am eager to share my strengths and insights with the staff and congregation. I am especially interested listening to the members of this church community and look forward to working together to help Covenant and its members grow and flourish."

Parsons will lead the church as the congregation seeks a permanent senior pastor, a task that could take a year or more.

Parsons will preach at all four morning worship times on July 10: 8:15, 9:30, 10:45 and 11 a.m. Covenant Presbyterian Church is located at 3003 Northland Dr. and Mopac.
