CrescoFX Establishes Asset Management Arm

Cresco Capital Management (UK) Ltd was formed in the UK in July 2014 under the regulation of the FCA. Trading as CrescoCap, it offers foreign exchange advisory services to both professional traders and institutional investors.

Operating as a separate entity to CrescoFX a Malta-based boutique currency broker/dealer licensed under the EU regulative authority, CrescoCap will provide tailored, multi-trader strategies to clients within a broker agnostic execution framework. The range of strategies will seek to offer diversified returns that are uncorrelated to broader indices such as the S&P500, as well as CTA and other hedge fund indices.

Derek Mayne, the Group’s Founder and MD states “as a pure STP broker specialising in transparent and efficient pricing, CrescoFX was not structured to offer any kind of investment advisory service. The growing demand we were seeing from our clients looking to source qualified, tried and tested trading strategies was our trigger to set up CrescoCap.”

CrescoCap launched with its flagship product; the Multi-Trader Program for clients seeking exposure in G-10 currencies.  The program is designed to provide investors with enhanced returns, by trading a range of investment strategies within a rigorous risk management framework.  To achieve its investment goals, CrescoCap evaluates and appoints a number of traders that specialise in pure alpha strategies by utilising different trading styles, with the aim to create a well-balanced and diversified portfolio that balances risk with return.

Mikkel Thorup, CIO at CrescoCap explains his investment philosophy in creating risk-adjusted returns in the currency markets “When evaluating individual trading strategies and how they perform over the medium to long term, we monitor and assess the skills of the trader in generating returns based on their trading styles and how this fits with our overall strategy. This way, we source traders that are capable of consistently generating returns in varying market conditions, instead of seeking specific strategies that perform well only in the current market environment. Successful strategies are then appraised within the portfolio selection process to qualify the strategy and verify the returns.”
