Online, February 1, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Guests of the 2011 Central Ohio Home & Garden Show, presented by gridSMART from AEP Ohio, will have an extraordinary opportunity this year to walk through the one-of-a-kind JELD-WEN's Doorway to your Community, a quirky village of Crooked Houses that will connect the Show's two main offerings. For the first time ever, the show will feature the latest kids' playhouse craze, up close and personal.
Made popular after their appearance on shows such as TLC's John and Kate Plus 8 and ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Crooked Houses are designed with kids' imagination in mind. These award-winning, wooden playhouses are designed to inspire creative playtime, sparked by the whimsical design and uniquely crooked shingle roofs to curiously angled walls and windows. Designed and handcrafted in Maine, these playhouses are recognized all over the world for their one-of-kind appeal and robust, kid-tested construction. Crooked Houses is also known for giving back to the communities that support the company. To date, it has contributed more than $21,000 to organizations such as Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Make-A-Wish Foundation and Habitat for Humanity.
In addition to wandering the charming JELD-WEN's Doorway to your Community, featuring ten Crooked Houses, guests will have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for one of these unusual play houses, with raffle ticket sales wrapping up and winners being drawn at the close of the show on March 6. One house will be donated and auctioned at a charity event benefiting St. Jude.
