Online, October 9, 2013 (Newswire.com) - Crosspoint Kinetics, a Cummins Crosspoint company and maker of the Hybrid Electric Drive System, will be featured at the High-Efficiency Truck and User Forum (HTUF) conference in Chicago, Ill. October 7-9, 2013.
The national conference, organized by CALSTART, brings together manufacturers, fleet managers, policy makers and public agencies to identify and address issues affecting the commercial and military high-efficiency truck industry. Three days of presentations and working forums explore ways to remove barriers to increased fleet adoption of proven high-efficiency technologies.
As a key sponsor of the event, Crosspoint Kinetics' new hybrid system will be showcased on its demo vehicle during the Ride and Drive session at Soldier Field, which allows conference attendees the chance to try various "green" vehicles.
The Crosspoint Kinetics Hybrid System improves acceleration performance, lowers fuel consumption, and reduces emissions for fleets and operators of Class 3-7 trucks and buses by capturing regenerative braking energy from frequent stops and reusing that energy for fuel-intensive accelerations.
Users of the electric hybrid system are seeing improvements up to 30% in fuel efficiency and 30% reduction in emissions while also increasing brake life by up to 3 times, saving hundreds a year per vehicle in maintenance and downtime.
The second-generation hybrid system has been fully tested and design-certified by Altoona/FTA and independent engineering labs. It is currently undergoing hybrid performance evaluation through CALSTART.
