CTA Construction Builds First Of Its Kind Joint Forces Headquarters Building At Hanscom AFB
Online, February 11, 2013 (Newswire.com) - A ribbon-cutting ceremony was recently held at Hanscom Air Force Base to honor the opening of the nation's first Joint Forces Headquarters building, a 120,000 square foot state of the art office building, Phase I of a two-phase, two-wing, 200,000 square foot facility to accommodate both the Massachusetts Army and Air National Guard. Attending the ceremony was The Honorable Governor Deval Patrick, Lieutenant Governor Tim Murray, Senator Elect Elizabeth Warren, The Adjutant General of the Massachusetts National Guard Major General L. Scott Rice, and General Frank J. Grass, National Guard Bureau Chief.
Phase I of the project was designed by Kleinfelder/SEA Consultants, Inc. of Cambridge, Massachusetts, and constructed by CTA Construction Co. Inc. of Waltham, Massachusetts. The state-of-the-art building contains highly flexible interior space to accommodate the changing needs of the National Guard divisions. The building will serve as the administrative, war-time, and domestic response headquarters for over 8,000 soldiers, Airmen and Civilians.
The building design includes numerous sustainable features, including optimized energy performance, recycled-content building materials and adherence to an Indoor Air Quality Management Plan. The site contains water efficient landscaping.
The project is targeting LEED Gold certification.
