CTA Construction Successfully Delivers $23 Million Marshall Simonds Middle School, Burlington, MA, As CM At Risk

Online, April 10, 2013 (Newswire.com) - A ribbon-cutting ceremony was recently held at the Marshall Simonds Middle School in Burlington, Massachusetts to celebrate the grand opening of this $23 million school building project. Attending the ceremony was the Massachusetts School Building Authority's Executive Director Jack McCarthy, the Town of Burlington's Director of Finance and Operations Craig Robinson, the Owner's Project Manager Construction Monitoring Services, the project's architect Knight, Bagge & Anderson, and construction manager, CTA Construction. The school project's overall success was due to many factors including the collaborative work spirit of all the project participants.

The Marshall Simonds Middle School project involved the phased renovations of 118,000 square feet of a fully occupied school to include a new kitchen, bathrooms, accessibility code upgrades, new roofing, and upgrades to fire protection, plumbing, HVAC and electrical systems. Asbestos abatement was completed on over 84,000 square feet of floor tile during the summer months while the school was unoccupied. The 37,000 square foot addition contains new classrooms, media center, administrative space, science rooms, and music suite. The school started classes in September 2012.

Knight, Bagge & Anderson and CTA Construction also collaborated on another Burlington School project, the new 78,500 square foot Memorial Elementary School, completed in 2011.
