The FR-S, which was created in conjunction with the European Toyota 86 and the Subaru BRZ, will be Scion's first, truly performance oriented coupe. The Scion FR-S is powered by a 2 liter, 4-cylinder boxer engine that has been engineered by Subaru. Add Toyota's direct and port fuel injection system and a six-speed manual or automatic transmission and you get the FR-S (Front engine, Rear drive, Sport). This little boxer engine puts out 200 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque; impressive when you consider the car weighs a mere 2,800 lbs. What really makes this car so special though is the sport tuned suspensions and the front engine, rear-wheel drive setup that makes it a classic sports car. The six speed automatic and manual transmissions feel equally crisp and responsive with the automatic getting paddle shifters behind the steering wheel. In addition to all this performance, the Scion FR-S is expected to return up to 34 mpg on the highway and 25 around the city!
