CUNA Mutual Group Delivers Cheer to Veterans With Cheeriodicals
CUNA Mutual Group partners with Cheeriodicals through Community Service Campaign to Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, Texas
HOUSTON, July 26, 2018 (Newswire.com) - Representatives from CUNA Mutual Group, a Wisconsin-based insurance and financial services company, partnered with Cheeriodicals to assemble and deliver 368 big green boxes of cheer to patients at Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center on July 25.
Approximately 400 CUNA Mutual Group financial advisers from across the country were in Houston for a meeting. During a special team-building event at the Hilton Americas Houston, the group volunteered their time to assemble the Cheeriodicals gift boxes, which were filled with magazines, activity books, convenience items, puzzles and games for the veterans to enjoy.

CUNA Mutual Group worked with Cheeriodicals in April to benefit hospitalized children and the Ronald McDonald House in Toronto, Ontario. After that positive experience of giving back in Toronto, the company wanted to benefit local Veterans with a Cheeriodicals delivery during their July meeting in Houston.
"It has been such a rewarding experience to partner once again with CUNA Mutual Group to lead their team to assemble Cheeriodicals, this time to benefit the patients at the Houston VA Medical Center,” said Gary Parisher, president at Cheeriodicals. “Their enthusiastic team changed lives today by coming together to show a hospital full of our country's heroes that their sacrifices are appreciated and remembered."
After a special delivery to the hospital, free of charge, by Two Men and a Truck Sugar Land, CUNA Mutual Group and Cheeriodicals representatives began handing out the boxes to Veterans at the hospital. Barbra Bell, voluntary services director at Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, helped coordinate the delivery at the hospital.
“This generous donation means so much to our Veterans here at the Houston VA Medical Center,” said Bell. “Our partnership with groups like Cheeriodicals and CUNA Mutual Group makes such a positive difference in the lives of the men and women we serve. We can’t thank them enough for their support of our military Veterans.”
“CUNA Mutual Group stands with our armed services, and we were honored to help and show our gratitude to those who have given so much to our country,” said Rob Comfort, Vice President, CUNA Brokerage Services, Inc., an affiliate of CUNA Mutual Group. “We thank Cheeriodicals and the DeBakey VA Medical Center for this opportunity.”
