Helping those less fortunate has been the driving force behind the Salvation Army's 120-year old Red Kettle Campaign. The spare change that people drop into the kettle allows the Salvation Army to serve more than 64 million meals each year, assist 30 million
Americans in need and provide Christmas for millions of disadvantaged children.
Since 1997 when they got additional support from the Dallas Cowboys, The Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign has raised more than $ 1.4 billion. A growing number of businesses are stepping up with generous support-
Crescenta Valley Insurance of La Crescenta, California, is sponsoring a Kettle Drive
At Von's Supermarket on December 15th and 16th from 10 am to 6
pm. Von's is located at 3223 Foothill Blvd. in La Crescenta, CA 91214 at the corner of Foothill and Pennsylvania.
Crescenta Valley Insurance owner Rick Dinger and his staff will join
thousands of faithful and tireless volunteer bell ringers doing their part to make this Christmas season bright for those less fortunate.
"With record numbers of families requesting help this year, the Salvation Army hopes to exceed their previous collection goals so that they can continue providing basic necessities for those who are struggling financially. We wanted to do our part and to see if we could help beat last year's $142 million raised outside grocery stores across America," said Rick Dinger.
All of the Red Kettle Campaign collections go directly to helping individuals, and families, in need by providing food, Christmas gifts for children and senior citizens, and supplying individuals a warm bed at night.

About the Red Kettle Campaign
When the kettle tradition was founded by Salvation Army Captain Joseph McFee in 1891, he sought out a location for his collection that would be well-trafficked. He chose the Oakland Ferry Landing in San Francisco so it could be seen by everyone going to and from the ferry boats.
Today, the corporate partnerships provide just that; prime locations during the season of giving (and shopping!).
