Cycle Computing, providing proven, secure and elastic high performance computing (HPC) and open source solutions internally and in the cloud, today announced five industry veterans have joined its experienced engineering and business development teams in response to the company's growing client base and increased market demand. Chris Chalfant, Andrew Kaczorek and Dave Powers join Cycle from Eli Lilly and Company, accompanied by Ian Chesal, formerly of Altera Corporation, and Carl Chesal from Donovan Creative Communications and Sun Microsystems Canada.

The appointments demonstrate Cycle Computing's continued focus on enhancing and refining the company's solutions lexicon. Following this year's launch of the specialized CycleCloud for Life Sciences family of solutions and with ongoing service to blue-chip clients and partners, including Pfizer, Varian, Inc., Life Technologies, and Schrodinger, Cycle Computing continues to grow in prominence and proficiency in service to the life sciences market. The company has also continued its development and commitment to clients across such diverse verticals as insurance and financial services.

• Dave Powers: Powers brings 20 years of IT experience in distributed enterprise environments with specific familiarity working in large-scale system administration for UNIX/Linux environments, storage architectures and HPC. A visionary leader behind the movement into cloud computing at Eli Lilly, he now drives evangelism and business development at Cycle.

• Chris Chalfant: While at Eli Lilly, Chalfant championed the use of open source, agile methods and social networking tools and is a leading expert in cloud design for scientific research. At Cycle, Chalfant will join the CycleServer and CycleCloud development teams to design custom life science solutions.

• Ian Chesal: Chesal was previously a member of the technical staff at Altera Corporation and brings experience from his seven patents in grid-enabling CAD tools and as a globally-recognized authority on Condor. Utilizing this knowledge at Cycle, Chesal will focus on executing the company's vision for grid and cloud computing.

• Andrew Kaczorek: Kaczorek previously supervised design and operation of a large scientific compute cluster within Eli Lilly. In his new role, he will work on architectural design and development around large-scale automation and provisioning on internal and external clusters, grid and cloud environments.

• Carl Chesal: With more than 30 years of IT sales and marketing experience, Chesal comes from Donovan Creative Communications and 17 years at Sun Microsystems, bringing his broad knowledge of sales, marketing and project management, to the Cycle international sales and marketing team. Working with clients across various industries, he will provide solutions for internal HPC environments and in the cloud, which drive down costs and increase utilization.
