Dallas Chamber Symphony Presents Piano Competition Winner Kyle Orth, Soloist Chloe Trevor on Nov. 18
Dallas, TEXAS, October 28, 2014 (Newswire.com) - The Dallas Chamber Symphony’s 2014-2015 season continues with a concert on November 18, 2014 that will feature talented soloists Chloé Trevor and Kyle Orth with the orchestra. The DCS also welcomes Felix Olschofka who will serve as guest-concertmaster for the evening. Artistic director Richard McKay will conduct.
The evening begins with some of Vaughan-Williams’ most powerful and evocative pastoral writings as Violinist Chloé Trevor performs The Lark Ascending. She is a silver medalist of the 2008 Ima Hogg Competition, and is one of the rising stars on today’s international violin scene. Critics have acclaimed Chloé for her “dazzling technique”, “excellent musicianship”, “huge tone”, “poise and professional grace” and “a bold personality unafraid to exult in music and ability”. She has appeared as a soloist with several orchestras, including the Knoxville Symphony, Hong Kong Sinfonietta, Latvian Chamber Orchestra, Plano Symphony and the Slovak State Philharmonic.
The solo will be followed by Charles Ives’ rarely performed, yet equally bucolic, Symphony No. 3, “The Camp Meeting.”
To conclude the evening, the Chamber Symphony welcomes Kyle Orth, winner of the Dallas International Piano Competition 2014 as he performs Mozart’s beloved Piano Concert No. 20 in D Minor.
After applying to the competition and participating in a highly selective preliminary audition round, Kyle was invited to travel to Dallas to participate in the final rounds of competition, which were held at Southern Methodist University in March. Kyle advanced through three live rounds of competition to win First Prize. A recent graduate of Texas Christian University, Kyle Orth has been hailed as a pianist of unusual virtuosity and artistic sensitivity by critics and audiences alike. Since his orchestral debut at the age of 15, he has soloed with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Israel Symphony Orchestra, the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, the Orquesta Sinfónica de Oaxaca (Mexico), the Richardson Symphony Orchestra, the Springfield Symphony Orchestra, the San Angelo Symphony Orchestra, and on several occasions with the Plano Symphony Orchestra.
The concert will be held on Tuesday, November 18 at City Performance Hall (2520 Flora Street, Dallas, Texas 75201). It will begin at 8:00 p.m. Individual tickets are available for $19-$44 each. For event information or to purchase tickets, visit dallaschambersymphony.org or call (214) 449-1294. Tickets may also be purchased in the City Performance Hall lobby the evening of the concert starting at 6:30 p.m.
