Danny Blu Strips Down More Than Just Sound In Fight Against Bullying
During his next acoustic performance at New York City nightclub Ella Lounge on April 4th, 7 PM, Danny Blu has vowed to entice the audience eyes by stripping down to the skin to bring awareness to the scary and vulnerable feeling of being bullied.
Online, March 30, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Danny Blu will be stripping down the sound of his band this weekend during their acoustic performance at New York City nightclub Ella Lounge (#9 Avenue A) on April 4th at 7 PM. Promising to provide more than just entertainment for the ears he vows to entice audience eyes by stripping down to the skin while wearing little more than a grin during his show. Why? To bring awareness to the scary and vulnerable feeling of being bullied, Danny Blu is stripping off his armor and baring his soul (and everything else).
He's also raising money for the printing of You Are Not Alone Hotline Cards that he'll distribute during his 2014 North American Sanctuary tour promoting "saint", his latest album, and the filming of his "Road to Change" documentary. You Are Not Alone Hotline Cards are pocket sized and provide contact information to organizations that help those who are being bullied at school, in their neighborhood, or on the internet. Nine out of ten LGBT teens report being bullied because of their sexual orientation and 40% have attempted suicide. Over 84% report verbal harassment at school and 28% of those students drop out because of this harassment. It's time to help those in need find the voice within, speak out for change, and silence the bullies.
On tour, Danny will share his own story and speak to disenfranchised youth at LGBTQ centers, schools and community Pride events. It's at these gatherings that he will leave the You Are Not Alone Hotline Cards with those attending. And these cards could save lives.
Climbing aboard the Blu bandwagon in the past week to combat teenage/cyber bullying and lending his voice in approval was author and holistic health guru Deepak Chopra. The founder of the Chopra Center for Wellbeing tweeted his support for Danny's efforts and stated, "I love this!" This follows previous endorsements from actor Scott Lowell, ("Queer as Folk"), singer/actor Anthony Rapp ("Rent"), singer/actress Eden Espinosa ("Wicked"), and orchestrator/director Stephen Oremus ("The Book of Mormon").
