Access to data in the digital age is transforming the way critical decisions are made in industry, commerce, and education. But only a tiny minority of professionals know how to interpret and utilize the tools now available.

We're building a global community of analysts who support one another, exchange job opportunities, referrals and tips - all built around courses that give you a set of concrete skills in every two-hour module.

The scholarships, funded by a Kickstarter initiative, will train adults who are looking to re-enter the workforce. Data Society’s innovative and unique approach to online education takes students from the very basics of thinking about data, to advanced analytics in a very short time.

“We’re building a global community of analysts who support one another, exchange job opportunities, referrals and tips - all built around courses that give you a set of concrete skills in every two-hour module,” says Merav Yuravlivker, one of two Co-founders of Data Society. “Now, with our Kickstarter Campaign, we’re calling on new and established funders to help us get to the next level – providing genuine opportunities for those unable to afford them.”

Data Society is not just another set of online videos - the program is designed by educators to create the most effective online learning platform, with community forums, extensive analysis templates, support materials and downloadable reference guides for members to have at their desks.

The start-up is building on the success of its three current courses in data manipulation and visualization. Ms. Yuravlivker’s partner in Data Society, Dmitri Adler, says students can organize their own training schedule, at their own pace: “Traditional academic institutions and free MOOCs do an excellent job of giving people a strong conceptual foundation, but that’s not enough when you’re in the workforce and need to deliver a work product quickly.” You need to know how to use your knowledge in a real situation.

Data Society also has a grander ambition. “We’re out to truly empower people and make valuable and lucrative skills accessible to everyone,” says Yuravlivker, “For every paid membership, we are giving a scholarship to someone who wouldn’t be able afford it.” The Co-founders believe that education is the great equalizer - building a community around a strong training program will provide thousands of people access to the new opportunities of the digital age.
