DataPoint by SoftPoint Launches EMV Tip Adjustment Feature
SoftPoint's much anticipated feature release of tip adjustments for SoftPoint's patented product DataPoint, an EMV middleware compatible with merchants existing POS like Micros and POSitouch is now available.
Scottsdale, Arizona, July 14, 2016 (Newswire.com) - SoftPoint, a cloud-based single centralized point-of-sale (POS) for retailers, restaurateurs, and hoteliers, has today announced the much anticipated feature release of tip adjustments for SoftPoint’s patented product DataPoint, an EMV middleware compatible with merchants existing POS like Micros and POSitouch.
Up until now with the introduction of EMV and “Pay at the Table”, merchants were left with changing the way they operated by having to take DataPoint to the table for guest to checkout at restaurants. SoftPoint has now modified their platform so that a business can decide to have 'Pay at the Table' or maintain the traditional payment process where the guest offers their card for processing. Building the functionality for merchants to have "Tip Adjustment" and "Authorization" logic into DataPoint allows for merchants to have greater flexibility without interruption of service.
"Our tip adjustment feature allows merchants to run DataPoint without changing operations while being EMV compliant, which is a huge deal for merchants!"
Christian Rivadalla, CEO
“Pay at the table is great as it saves a lot of time but it’s still very new to us here in the United States unlike other parts of the world. It’s sometimes difficult for established businesses to change the way they operate as it requires investing in training on new procedures and also educating the guest which are sometimes hesitant to use,” said Christian Rivadalla, Co-Founder of SoftPoint. “Our tip adjustment feature allows merchants to run DataPoint without changing operations while being EMV compliant, which is a huge deal for merchants!”
DataPoint is the brainchild of SoftPoint, who’s founders have much success in the hospitality technology industry with several acquisitions under their belt. The much anticipated release of DataPoint back in January, provides merchants a dependable product to alleviate their charge back problems without changing their POS. DataPoint fills the demand for external POS systems such as, Micros, POSitouch, Dinerware, Infogenesis, and NCR Aloha to be able to process 'chip' cards using the hardware made available by Clover, a First Data product, while taking the POS out of PCI scope. SoftPoint has designed a series of apps that run on the Clover device and can also be customized and tailored to meet the need of any business. By implementing this technology to be used with existing POS legacy systems, SoftPoint is providing an integrated and non-integrated EMV payment solution available to all merchants.
“Since the release of DataPoint, we have hundreds of installs where we have reduced chargebacks and cyber security risk for both the consumer and businesses,” said Mr. Rivadalla. “We're not like typical gateways/middleware’s or ISO’s that sell misleading EMV solutions just to capture a merchant’s processing. We're operators ourselves, so we see everything from that point of view. Our main objective at SoftPoint is to empower operators with technology to simplify process and obtain the highest level of PCI compliance to protect the merchant and guest. In doing so it allows for operators to focus at what they're good at, customer service.”
DataPoint by SoftPoint starts at $19.99 per device a month, with additional features such as CRM and custom branding available.
