DECC Reveals UK Home Insulation Fgures - Knauf Insulation UK

Online, March 13, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Figures published by the Department for Energy and Climate Change(DECC) have revealed the extent of the insulation efforts that remain to be carried out in the UK.

The figures are said to be correct as of January 2012 and highlight how just two per cent of the UK's homes that could be fitted withsolid wall insulationhave had this work carried out to date.

Furthermore, despite concerted efforts to promote cavity wall andloft insulationin recent years, 40 per cent of properties with loft space remain uninsulated, while 41.1 per cent of properties with cavity wall spaces have also not been insulated to date.

However, the data did reveal that since the launch of the CERT scheme in 2008, the government has had a hand in getting 3.1 million lofts insulated, as well as two million cavity walls and 58,000 solid wall projects.

It follows comments by Oliver Heath, eco design consultant at Oliverheath.com, who recently argued additional insulation in a property can be one of the best methods for helping people to save on fuel and to boost their energy efficiency.
