Dedeler En Iyisini Bilir (Grandpas Know Best) Director, Nehir Tuna, Attends 2012 Cannes Film Festival

Online, May 21, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Dedeler En Iyisini Bilir (Grandpas Know Best) is a short film directed by Nehir Tuna. It was shot in Nehir's hometown of Istanbul, Turkey and stars Sercan Badur, Koksal Engur, Didem Ellialti and Nursel Kose, herself a much lauded German actress of Turkish decent who was at Cannes in 2007 with Fatih Akin's film "Edge of Heaven." Sercan Badur plays Ali, a young Turkish man who dreams of being out from under the shadow of his father and living his own life and making his own decisions. But he lacks the maturity to be on his own so he suffers his mother's attempts to find him a wife and works for his father's company. When his father hires a new secretary for Ali so the shy 20 year old can get used to working with women, she awakens desires in Ali that he never knew he had. Now he's confronted with the choice of family obligation or following his own heart.

Nehir Tuna is among the rising stars in Turkish cinema and the world of advertising. Due to the buzz generated by Dedeler En Iyisini Bilir (Grandpas Know Best), he has been featured in Marie Claire (Turkey), Vogue (Turkey), TimeOut Istanbul, and CNN Turk. Aside from feature films, Nehir is a freelance director currently working with PTT Advertising Agency in Istanbul. 2012 will be a busy year for Nehir and his producing partners Berk Tunali, Omer Fener, and Roger Silverstein. They are currently in pre-production for three films to be shot this year alone.

Nehir is at the Cannes Film Festival this year with his leading actress, Didem Ellialti.

Born in TekirdaÄŸ and writing stories since his young ages Nehir Tuna put his mind to turn his stories into movies in university years.

After he completed the department of business of Marmara University he started to do film master in Rochester Institute of Technology / College of Imaging Arts.

He shot his movies such as in Turkey The Day Before Xmas, This is My Masturbation, Birthday Boy and finally 18, in Wyoming Virgin Island, and in New York Anger, Wintaj, Who's in the closet, Strip Club, Mary's Bathroom Camp. He has undertaken the positions of director, scriptwriter, editor, art director and the producer of his short movies. Currently he is working on his thesis film.

Other than cinema he is influenced by performing arts, plastic arts, photography, fashion, the places he travels and especially Tekirdağ where he comes from. Woody Allen, Woody Allen and Woody Allen are among the directors that he loves the most. He often takes pictures, reads book, watches movies, and follows the world theater and the musical agenda. Finally, he loves diet coke, filter coffee, carrot cake, schnitzel, strawberry cake, crème brulee, his mac pro and his darling very much.
