Offering two Continuing Legal Education (CLE) General Credits, the course will be held in October 2011 in Franklin and Lawrenceburg, TN. The seminar will take a comprehensive look at the state of driver license law in Tennessee. Topics will include avenues of defense and appeal strategies, and a discussion of what comes next after the new changes in the DUI law.
"The statutes regarding driving prohibition, license suspension, and license revocation as the result of a DUI conviction present courts with a Gordian Knot of statutory interpretation," stated Justice Thomas in delivering the opinion of the court. "At least now we have one more piece of the puzzle," said Niner, founder of the Franklin Round Table.
Two seminars are scheduled for October. The first is Oct. 20, 5-7 p.m. at 219 Third Avenue North, Franklin, TN 37064, and the second is Oct. 24, 3-5 p.m. at the law office of Boston, Holt, Sockwell & Durham, PLLC at 235 Waterloo Street, Lawrenceburg, TN 38464. The course fee is $60. Please register online at http://FranklinRoundTable.com or send an e-mail to: [email protected].
Niner has won Tennessee Supreme Court and Court of Criminal Appeals cases, including the recent case of the State of Tennessee vs. Richard Brown. The appeals court reviewed a finding of guilt by the Williamson County Criminal Court that Brown was driving on a revoked license even though the Department of Safety had not taken formal action to revoke his license.
