Definition Of Consumer Signal Boosters In Recent FCC Order Also Includes Non-Individuals

In a recent webinar hosted by RCR Wireless, Cellphone-Mate CEO, Hongtao Zhan, and Sales Manager, Curt Burkhart, summarized the FCC document declaring cellular boosters as legal among other relevant topics.

Cellphone-Mate, the innovation leader in cellular amplifier technology, today announced that because of certain language in a recent FCC's report, businesses will be able to sell consumers and businesses signal boosters with minor modifications, effective March 1, 2014. Originally issued on February 20, 2013, the report includes rules and policies that will enhance wireless coverage for consumers, particularly in rural, underserved, and difficult-to-serve areas by broadening the availability of signal boosters while ensuring that boosters do not adversely affect wireless networks.

A leading industry authority on cell phone boosters, Cellphone-Mate CEO, Hongtao Zhan, believes that the FCC's ruling will enable him and his company to freely sell boosters without restriction at the end of Q1 2014. Zhan points out that page 75 of the February 20, 2013, FCC Order, that along with defining a consumer as an individual, the order also defines consumer booster users as a "Non-individual," expanding on the definition with, "A non-individual is a partnership and each partner is eighteen years of age or older; a corporation; an association; a state, territorial, or local government unit; or a legal entity." - meaning that effective March 1, 2014 anyone fitting this definition can sell signal boosters. During the webinar, Zhan also pointed out that the FCC may begin accepting amplifiers for certification according to the new regulations, in October 20133

"After working hand-in-hand with the FCC and helping them come to their ultimate ruling I am excited at what the future holds for the signal booster market," says Zhan. "The fact that the FCC has placed both businesses and consumers in the same light, giving them both equal right to buy and use signal boosters means that manufacturers like us, and our reseller network, will be able to provide all the wonderful benefits signal boosters have to offer."

"Signal boosters play an important role across the world," said Dan Meyer, editor-in-chief of RCR Wireless News. "Whether it's in a warehouse in Cleveland, Ohio, a patrol car in rural Texas or a mountain resort in Canada, people not only want to be connected 24/7, they need to be connected 24/7. The fact that businesses will now be able to sell them without restriction will make it easier for this to happen."

Mobile voice and mobile broadband services are increasingly important to consumers and to our nation's economy. While nearly one or more wireless providers serve the entire U.S. population, coverage gaps that exist within and at the edge of service areas can lead to dropped calls, reduced data speeds, or complete loss of service. Robust signal boosters can bridge these gaps and extend coverage at the fringe of service areas. Signal boosters can also improve public safety communications by enabling the public to connect to 911 in areas where wireless coverage is deficient or where an adequate communications signal is blocked or shielded.

"We enjoyed dissecting the FCC's statement with Dan from RCR," continued Zhan. "Our dialogue really brought our a lot of key points and led to the understanding that we will, in fact, be able to sell our boosters without restriction. Therefore providing all the safety, business and pleasure benefits we all need and want from our mobile devices."
