Destinflorida.com Reveals New Mascot

DESTIN, Fla., April 9, 2021 (Newswire.com) - Keep your eyes peeled Destin, Florida fans! Destinflorida.com has a new mascot, and he comes with some Destin history. "Lenny the Marlin" can be seen strolling HarborWalk Village, on the beach for an iconic Destin sunrise or even out at Crab Island in his natural habitat. The 7-feet tall Marlin received his name in honor of Destin's founder, Captain Leonard Destin. Leonard Destin was born in Connecticut in the 1800s and ended up traveling the Atlantic Ocean on a fishing trip, only to end up on a peninsula in the Gulf of Mexico. Leonard started a fishing business in the area, and not long after, the area became known as Destin, Florida.
