Developer of CMMC Standard Andrew Hoover to Speak at Up on Cyber in June 2020

Ariento Inc. announces that a developer of the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Standard, Andrew Hoover, will speak at the annual Up On Cyber Conference in June of this year.

Ariento Inc., an IT, cybersecurity and compliance service provider to small and mid-sized organizations, announced today that developer of the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Standard Andrew Hoover will speak at the annual Up On Cyber Conference in June of this year.

CMMC is a new cyber compliance standard that will be required for contractors by the Department of Defense (DoD). It is expected to take effect later this year.

As a developer of the CMMC standard, Andrew will speak on what CMMC Model v1.2 entails, along with a comparison of each of the five different levels. Additional speakers include members of the development team tasked by the Department of Defense to create the CMMC standard, as well as the DoD itself.

This year’s Up On Cyber conference will be held virtually and will focus exclusively on the recently released CMMC cyber standard. “We wanted to provide a comprehensive look at CMMC and, therefore, built a speaker lineup that represents each stakeholder,” said Ariento’s Jennifer Fullerton, “to include the DoD who sponsored the standard, John Hopkins and CMU who created the standard, the Accreditation Body who will inspect the standard, and the small defense contractors that will have to comply.”

Andrew Hoover is a Senior Engineer with the CERT Division of Carnegie Mellon University’s Software Engineering Institute. As a member of the Cybersecurity Assurance Team, he performs risk and resilience management work for a variety of organizations, mostly relating to critical infrastructure protection. Andrew has 16 years of experience in the information technology field. Prior to joining the SEI, he worked as a technical auditor performing risk and vulnerability assessments for government and industry clients. In addition to the customer-focused work, Andrew teaches the public offering of the CERT Resilience Management Model (CERT-RMM) course. He holds numerous security-related certifications and remains active in the cybersecurity community.
