Development of Latin American Railways Will Achieve Global Benchmarks

Online, March 17, 2014 (Newswire.com) - An estimated boost of US$6.83bn to VALEC, Brazil's federal rail company for fulfillment of its ongoing operations, will lend security to companies that have entered into partnerships with Valec under the federal governments concessions program. LatAm Rail Opportunities Summit to be held in Sao Paulo, Brazil on 18 - 19 March 2014 will hear from Alex Trevizan, Operations Manager and Osiris Santos, Director Operations at Valec on railway concession model. They will express their views on the current position of rail transportation in the Latin American region.
One of the key focus of the summit will be transportation systems for urban communities and will cover areas like Communications Based Train Control (CBTC), monorails and rail automation to maximize capacity in operation. Other topics to be covered include rail electrification, rolling stock maintenance, rail engineering , rail automation to maximize capacity in operation and level of risks in rail financing. The summit will see participation from Ministry of Transport Brazil, National Department of Transport Infrastructure - DNIT, Ministry of Transport and Public Works - Uruguay, Steer Davies Gleave, senior representation from EPL and Roberto Salinas from Transportation Master Plan for the Paraguayan Government.
First edition of the LatAm Rail Opportunities explored the probabilities of favorable investments available in the region; the major issues and feasible solutions to the concerns facing the industry. The platform was used to share best practices in the industry and the latest innovations in rail technology. The second edition of the summit will attempt to support the momentum of the infrastructure development plans in the region by propagating a healthy discussion on the various facets that are withholding the progress of the path.
