DI Bill Passes for the State of Colorado
Valencia, CA, July 10, 2017 (Newswire.com) - The legislature for the state of Colorado has officially signed bill SB 17-274 into law. The bill allows for disability insurance to be placed on Surplus Lines.
The bill’s creation and passage into existence were greatly due to the efforts and the support of Petersen International Underwriters, a specialty-market disability insurance firm.
The passage and signing of this bill is a great triumph for the citizens of Colorado. Those who in the past have been unable to qualify for any coverage or sufficient amounts of disability insurance through domestic carriers now have the option to acquire comprehensive coverage from other reputable sources that specialize in high-limit and impaired-risk underwriting.
Thomas Petersen, Vice President
Effective August 9, 2017, the bill allows Colorado residents to procure high-limit disability insurance and other types of personal and corporate disability plans from Surplus Lines carriers that are not available through “traditional” insurance companies.
According to Thomas Petersen, Vice President of Petersen International, “the passage and signing of this bill is a great triumph for the citizens of Colorado. Those who in the past have been unable to qualify for any coverage or sufficient amounts of disability insurance through domestic carriers now have the option to acquire comprehensive coverage from other reputable sources that specialize in high-limit and impaired-risk underwriting.”
