Red Skelton, the son of a former circus clown and a cleaning woman, was introduced to showbiz at the age of seven by Ed Wynn, at a vaudeville show in Vincennes. At 10, he left home to travel with a medicine show through the Midwest, and joined the vaudeville circuit at age of 15.
He was the star of "The Red Skelton Show" on NBC Radio from 1941 to 1949 and CBS Radio from 1949 to 1953. He stared in his own television show, which aired from 1951 to 1971. He created such characters as Clem Kadiddlehopper, Gertrude and Healthcliffe, Freddie the Freeloader and more.
Over the years, thousands have enjoyed sold out performances in Las Vegas. The jokes and routines are Red's and Brian delivers them so meticulously that it seems like the master Skelton himself is back with us.
This former Las Vegas headliner is scheduled to open March 17, 2015. Now visitors and locals of Pigeon Forge can enjoy the same great shows that Las Vegas residents and tourists have adored for over 6 years.
Brian Hoffman's tribute to Red Skelton has been one of the top 12 shows to see in Las Vegas, according to TripAdvisor.com and we plan on achieving the same ranking or better in the Live Rock N' Roll Theater on the Parkway in Pigeon Forge Tennessee.
