Director of Egg Donor & Surrogacy Institute (EDSI) Comments on the Issue of Egg Donation and Surrogate Parenting in the Media
Online, May 20, 2010 (Newswire.com) - In recent years, some members of the media have been giving misleading information about egg donation and surrogacy. The media is unfairly treating the process in a sensationalized way, talking only about the bad, or only about the good. But with any medical procedure, there can be positive and negative experiences. And even though we would love to say everything always goes as planned, it is simply not the case.
Surrogacy and egg donation are medical procedures, so of course there are risks involved. But that is not a good reason to decide against it. There are people who have had adverse reactions to Novocain on routine dentist visits and have become paralyzed due to stroke. This doesn't mean that going to the dentist is bad. This is a very rare occurrence, and the media doesn't make a huge deal out of such occurrences. So why are they attacking surrogacy and egg donation?
Parham Zar, Managing Director of Egg Donor & Surrogacy Institute (EDSI), wants people to understand the real aspects of egg donation and surrogacy, the highs and lows involved, and most importantly, the hope that it gives to people wishing to expand their families.
Believe it or not, surrogacy is actually banned in some states, and some countries. This is because certain individuals have moral issues with the process. Zar feels, "If anyone has moral issues with surrogacy, it is because they haven't talked to me."
People who are anti-surrogacy usually also tend to be pro-life. This just does not make sense. They are fine with a 14-year-old girl accidentally getting pregnant and keeping the baby even though she is probably not a very prepared parent. However, they don't like the idea of a responsible, financially secure adult that truly wants a child being able to experience this miracle.
If you have questions or concerns about this matter, perhaps you should make an appointment with EDSI. Many families have had their dreams come true with the help of the caring professionals at EDSI.
"What we do here at EDSI is nothing short of miraculous." - Parham Zar, Managing Director
