DirectRooms.com - Hua Hin hosts festival dedicated to Esarn life in November 2010
DirectRooms.com can reveal that visitors to the popular beach resort town of Hua Hin in Thailand will be able to take part in a special festival during November.
Online, September 14, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Running for one night only, the Hua Hin Esarn Festival 2010 will feature a number of performances and displays highlighting Esarn traditions and culture.
Esarn is one of the poorest regions in Thailand and is found in the northeast of the country, bordered by the Phetchabun Mountains to the left and Cambodia in the South. The area has a large Lao population and this diversity of cultures has led to many unique characteristics for the region.
People attending the festival can see displays of traditional dance and music including the extremely popular mor lam. This unique performance is a mix of music and song and often features colourful and theatrical dance displays.
Over 2,000 visitors are expected on the night and guests will be sitting down to a meal of traditional Esarn food containing sticky rice and chillies which accompany almost every meal in the region.
People using Hua Hin hotels attending the festival will be heading down to the Sampan club where the event is taking place.
Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com commented: "The festival is an opportunity for visitors to sample and view a number of Esarn customs and delicacies. Hua Hin is a popular destination however for both Thais and tourists and so people heading to the area should book their hotel room in advance."
