Online, January 21, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Set for the beginning of February 2011, when the wind conditions are just right, the two day event will bring together a number of Malaysia's boating societies and local and international yachts. The races are held in conjunction with the Kinabula Yacht Club and will feature many of the club's members along with previous members who will be making a return, some of whom have been competing for Malaysia at international sailing events.

Entry of competing boats will be split into the relevant categories which include Int. 470 and smaller Lasers as well as other classifications based on how old the boat is. Each category requires at least three boats in order for the race to take place and there will be prizes for the winners of certain classes including awards for the overall Laser winner and also for the junior racers.

Kota Kinabula hotels can head to the beaches next to the yacht to see the events unfold and certain races will compete around the islands of the nearby Tengku Abdul Rahman Park.
