DirectRooms.com - Movie Stars Flock To Cannes Between 11 and 22 May 2011

Online, April 18, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Between 11th and 22nd May 2011 the area will be filled with the most famous stars on the movie screen for the 64th Cannes Film Festival. Robert De Niro this year will be the President of the cast of judges who will be deciding the winning films at the event, with the actor starring in two films, Taxi Driver and The Mission, which won awards at the show.

A screening of Woody Allen's most recent production, 'Midnight in Paris' will open the event which features a cast of international stars including Rachel McAdams, Owen Wilson and Marion Cotillard. Other films in the line up are yet to be announced and there is still some debate with critics about the likely candidates and whether certain films will be finished in time.

Twenty films will be vying for the event's signature prize and one of the most highly regarded by the industry, the Palme d'Or. Last year the winner was 'Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives' by Thai director Apichatpong Weerasethakul.

Throughout the event people can see international stars gracing the red carpets and the area is overrun with journalists, photographers and fans that hotels in Cannes Airport are booked months ahead.
