DirectRooms.com - Munich Ballet Festival Showcases Bavarian State Ballet in April 2011
Online, March 16, 2011 (Newswire.com) - The week of contrasting dance spectaculars begins with a glamorous opening event showcasing the work of American choreographer John Neumeier.
His innovative adaptation of the best-loved classical ballet Swan Lake will include the introduction of a new character, the legendary King Ludwig II.
The annual festival is much anticipated by those in the world of ballet, and attracts a huge number of visitors to the already busy city. Hotel accommodation in the city centre is often fully booked, with advance reservations on rooms at Munich hotels the only sure way to avoid excessive travel to and from the theatre.
The Bavarian State Ballet company is well known for its innovative modern ballets choreographed for the dances as well as for its interpretations of the less contemporary and classical dance repertoire.
This year's festival will include 'Diversity - Forms of Silence and Emptiness', a contemporary piece danced with a Spanish flavour by the company and fast becoming a cult ballet with Munich audiences. Other notable inclusions are John Cranko's famed 'Taming of the Shrew' and a guest performance by the modern dance prodigy Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, who will present the final part of his trilogy entitled 'Babel'. The festival promises to be exciting and innovative, with the company as usual giving its all for its audience.
According to Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com, "Munich is a stunning city to visit all year round, with special events such as the festival an added attraction. Make sure of a good value room by booking online."
