DirectRooms.com - Philosophers Discuss New Theories in Dunedin Between 3 and 8 July 2011
DirectRooms.com reveals that academics studying and teaching philosophy will be presenting their own theories as part of the main conference for Australasia's philosophy association.
Online, June 1, 2011 (Newswire.com) - The Australasian Association of Philosophy (AAP) Conference will be featuring over 300 philosophers from the leading universities worldwide and will run in conjunction with the New Zealand AAP Division.
The keynote speaker at this year's event is Jeff McMahan from Rutgers University who will be talking around his specialist subjects which include normative and practical ethics along with legal theory. McMahan has an M.A. from Oxford and a PhD from Cambridge and has been published on his views on killing in war and vegetarianism.
The event will also be discussing the papers submitted by attendees with the subject matter being left entirely open to the writer and so topics are expected to cover a variety of themes. Some of the current submitted abstracts include 'The Structure of Logical Revolutions' by Dr Colin Caret from the University of St Andrews and 'Bilateralism and paradox' from Dr David Ripley at Melbourne's University.
All the discussions are going to be held at the Dunedin Campus at Otago University from 3rd to 8th July 2011 and as a result of the visiting lecturers Dunedin hotels closest to the campus are due to be in the highest demand.
Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com commented: "Attendees will be booking up hotels around the campus as accommodation isn't provided so people will need to book early."
