Discover a Festive London at Winter Wonderland

Visitors to central London will se Hyde Park transformed into a Yuletide paradise, with attractions and events being put on to get everyone in the Christmas spirit.

One London attraction that visitors to the city should not miss out on during the festive period is the Winter Wonderland.

Being held in Hyde Park between November 19th 2010 and January 4th 2011, this is the ultimate destination for anyone who adores Christmas.

Visitors will see the park in central London transformed into a Yuletide paradise, with attractions and events being put on to get everyone in the Christmas spirit.

One popular activity that children and adults alike are sure to enjoy is trying their hand at skating at London's largest ice rink.

Open every day from 10:00 to 22:00 GMT, visitors to the capital can grab an adult ticket for £13, while each session costs £8.50 for children under 12.

For those who have never donned a pair of skates, there are ice guides who can help you find your feet.

Ice guides can be booked for groups of one person up to 15 people and are there to ensure that skaters can make the most of their experience on the ice.

Kids are bound to be excited by one thing above all others when they arrive at the Winter Wonderland and that is to come up close with Santa Claus.

Santa Land's free grotto is open every day from 10:00 and 18:00 GMT and as well as being able to meet Father Christmas in person, each kid will receive a little gift.

Once they have got over the excitement of seeing Santa Claus himself, they can release some of their energy on the park's many festive-themed rides.

These include Santa's Sleigh, Euro Coaster, Power Tower and the Black Hole for adrenaline junkies and Santa's Roundabout, Helter Skelter and Steam Train for younger kids.

One of the most poplar attractions at the Winter Wonderland has to be the Angels Christmas Market, reminiscent of a traditional bazaar that can be found on the frosty streets of Germany.

There are more than 100 stalls to take a look at, featuring arts, crafts, delicacies and one-off Christmas gifts.

Visitors planning to make a day of it will also be able to find markets selling delicious wintry fare, including festive continental cuisine such as bratwurst and feuerzungebowle.

To keep attendees warm, there are plenty of hot toddies available including warm cider, mulled wine and real ales.

Smells of traditional grub including hog roasts and steak pies wafting through the cold air are also likely to tempt passers-by.

First-time visitors to the city will have the opportunity to see more of the capital by hopping on the Giant Observation Wheel.

Standing at 53 metres tall and giving viewers a 360-degree panoramic view of Hyde Park and the rest of the capital, the wheel provides an excellent alternative to the south bank's London Eye.

For those wanting to make the most of their experience, there is the opportunity to hire a Private Pod, which fits up to six people.

VIP Pods are also available to rent and allow attendees to experience the Giant Observation Wheel while sitting on leather seats, looking through its glass floor.

Zippos Circus will also be at the Winter Wonderland, with a Christmas-themed show for the audience.

The 50-minute production, performed in the Winter Wonderland Big Top, will feature Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Timoni the Elf, among many other circus performers.

Visitors can buy tickets for the circus for £8 for adults and £4.50 for children, while family tickets are also available for £20.50.

There are many London attractions for visitors to enjoy throughout the year, but making a trip to the Winter Wonderland this Christmas is set to be well worth it.

Experience the chance to see London like never before, enjoy the sights and sounds of the capital during the festive period and truly get into the Christmas spirit.
