'Dive Into Your Story' Workshop Set to Help Writers on Each Step of Creative Process

Antioch Writers' Workshop at University of Dayton will host its spring one-day seminar “Dive Into Your Story” on Saturday, March 24, from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The seminar will be held at University of Dayton, 300 College Park, Dayton, Ohio.

The one-day workshop is designed to help writers explore all the elements needed — from start to finish — to create a story that will reach readers. The workshop is for writers, of all levels, writing or interested in writing fiction (novels and short stories) or creative nonfiction (memoirs, personal essays or narrative nonfiction).

The workshop will be led by five authors and will cover generating ideas, drafting, revising, editing and submitting work to editors, agents and publications.

Specifically, faculty and sessions for the workshop are:

  • Rebecca Kuder -- Where Do We Get Our Ideas? Rebecca’s story “Rabbit, Cat, Girl” appeared in Year’s Best Weird Fiction, vol. 3. Her essays have appeared most recently in Tiferet Journal, Shadows and Tall Trees, The Manifest Station, Jaded Ibis Press, Lunch Ticket and The Rumpus.
  • Martha Moody -- Creating First Drafts. Martha has written four novels: her newest novel is Sharp and Dangerous Virtues. Her other novels include Sometimes Mine, The Office of Desire and her first novel Best Friends.
  • Joanne Smith -- Revision. Joanne was an award-winning journalist for the Dayton Daily News where she chronicled the lives of people and issues shaping her Ohio community. Joanne is the author of the popular memoir The 13th Gift, a New York Times Bestseller.
  • Kate Geiselman -- Editing. Kate's essays have appeared at The Washington PostSalon.com, the Rumpus, McSweeney's Internet Tendency and elsewhere online.
  • Rebecca Morean -- Now What? Submitting Your Work. Rebecca is a novelist, short story writer, essayist and screenwriter. Her novels include The Bench, We’ve Got This (both romance), In the Dead of Winter (mystery) and Azimuths (literary).

Admission is $150 per person in advance ($160 at the door). More information and registration is available on the workshop’s website, www.antiochwritersworkshop.com/spring-2018-seminar or register directly at www.tinyurl.com/AWWSpring2018.
