Online, October 3, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Markham, Ont. http://www.mesltd.ca/service.html?id=2 [Document management] company,MES Hybrid Document Systems, Inc., has successfully completed a project to automate the functions associated with managing member records for Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1572. The solution allows the local union to manage all member files digitally, access records from the field through laptops, and respond quicker to inquiries.
MES Hybrid Document Systems, a supplier of document scanning solutions since 1971, provided a records management solution developed especially for unions. The solution manages member records of all types, including applications, disputes, correspondence, grievances, actions, rulings and more.
With the new records management system, files are accessible regardless of location. If a member calls with a problem, the union representatives can get the necessary information from wherever they may be at the time. The organization is no longer dependent on paper files to conduct member business.
By better organizing member records and improving access, Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1572 saves substantial processing time. For example, one employee file alone might contain 300 documents. Handling a grievance previously would have taken hours to manually go through each record. Now, union representatives scan and scroll through the file and can find needed information quickly using word recognition software.
In addition, the new records management system eliminates document printing and photocopying. Automating and digitizing paper processes saves time and money, especially when handling document-intensive legal matters.
"We selected MES Hybrid Document Systems because they built a software solution around our organization - they adapted to us rather than expecting us to adjust to them," said Nicolas Bye, president of Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1572. "MES has made it as easy as possible for our members, some of whom are not very computer-literate, to operate in a much more efficient manner. We're committed to improving the lives of our members in the workplace and will use technology to do so whenever practical."
"Our goal was to make a big difference in how ATU Local 1572 organizes information," said Kevin D'Arcy, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at MES Hybrid Document Systems, Inc. "By customizing a solution to their requirements, we've been able to save the union hundreds of staffing hours so far. And that translates to significant cost savings and a successful project."
