Dog Lovers Bark Approval for Dog Trots Globe

If dogs could read, they'd pick up Dog Trots Globe-To Paris & Provence for their summer list. After all, the dog lovers around them have heartily recommended this new travelogue from OIC Books for the fun of a French adventure with a Sheltie.

In Dog Trots Globe-To Paris & Provence, a new release from OIC Books, author Sheron Long recounts a trip to France with her 9-year-old Sheltie, Chula. She celebrates their explorations-from the pure joy of sniffing around lavender fields and discovering sausage tables at the big outdoor markets in Provence to padding through Paris arrondissements and pausing in awe at the glory of the Eiffel Tower.

Available in hardcover and ebook, Dog Trots Globe is a light-hearted read and endearing travelogue that captures the bond between dog and woman. With over 150 color photographs of France, the book also transports readers right into
French life and culture.

Sue Kottwitz in a post for Talking Dogs summed up the content:

"This is a fun story. Traveling from Carmel Valley in California to Paris and Saint-Remy-de-Provence over two months' time, the author, her husband and Chula, the Sheltie dog, explore market days, bistros, French traditions, and the city lights of Paris. You'll find lots of beautiful photographs and recommendations of dog friendly places and spaces. This is not at all just a story of a traveling dog, but very much a travelogue of things to see and do while in France-with a dog or not."

Perhaps it is the freshness of the photographs that first catches the eye. According to columnist Robert Walch in The Californian: "The exquisite color photography coupled with Chula's informative and often humorous running commentary make this a unique travel book. Those who love France, dogs or photojournalism will find this little gem much to their liking."

The blog Something Wagging This Way Comes agrees, adding "If you enjoy armchair traveling, curling up on the couch looking at beautiful pictures with your dog at your side, you'll enjoy reading Dog Trots Globe. The beautiful photographs certainly inspire travel lust."

On the trip, Chula appreciated the water bowls that French waiters brought her way. She honed her "under-the-table" manners and learned a couple of new tricks-how to catch falling croissant flakes and how to sniff out the difference between French cheeses. But mostly Chula's dog's-eye view leaves readers inspired about France and more informed as well.

Robert Walch in The Californian sums it up: "It is the photography that will attract most readers to this book, but once they get into the accompanying text, they'll find that Chula is a very clever and knowledgeable guide." For example, through Chula's explorations, readers learn everything from how the Eiffel Tower is painted to when the markets happen in Provence to why 3,000 sheep are running through the streets of Saint-Remy.

A Traveler's Library elaborates on what readers can learn from Chula's explorations:

"I was most excited when Chula explored the countryside. The limestone cliffs of the Alpilles sandwiched between the shocking blue sky and periwinkle fields below looked like nothing I had ever seen before. Or, rather, something I had only seen in Van Gogh paintings. Never having visited Provence, I could see from the photographs why this region draws visitors from places where the sky features more gray than blue."

Published by OIC Books, Dog Trots Globe breaks from traditional travelogues with the inclusion of music and four videos embedded into the enhanced ebook for iPad, and made available online for readers of the hardcover or standard ebook editions. The four videos put readers into the stream of French life.

Every OIC book also extends the reading experience with a wealth of bonus content supplied online in the "Extras!" area of the publisher's website. For example, dog lovers will find information and resources for safe pet travel, fun dog quotes and sayings, funny dog videos, and more. Similarly, Francophiles will find helpful links and videos to plan a trip to France, lists of the best travel apps, local blogs, wine routes, cheese guides, and more.

Dog Trots Globe is available in hardcover directly from OIC Books. Hardcover and ebook editions are also available from major resellers, such as Apple iBookstore, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Google Play.
