Dollface To Release EP 'You To Lose'
Power pop sensation, Brighton based, Dollface to release EP "You to loose"
Online, May 16, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Stubbornly committed to ignoring fleeting trends and general mainstream hackery, Dollface are on a crusade against the two things they find equally offensive: manufactured X-Factor pop and Camden/Shoreditch hipsters peddling lifeless indie.
These three twenty something friends, who, having known each other since their days in nappies, decided it was only natural to combine their passion for music and form a band infusing their shared love of 80s rock and pop into a modern melange of danceable, feel-good power pop anthems. Recorded in their home town of Brighton at Metway studios, their first EP 'You To Lose' enlists the talents of Nick Trepka (Mike Chapman, George Clinton, Speech Debelle) and Al Scott (The Levellers, Oysterband, Asian Dub Foundation) to register their eclectic mix of syrupy sweet melodies and attention grabbing hooks, in bubbly jams designed simply to make people happy. Referencing everyone from Springsteen to Springfield, from Costello to Cheap Trick, from the Black Keys to Bon Jovi, 'You To Lose' captures the essence of youth with a sense of humour, of what it's like finding your way in the world and the excitement, confusion and adventure that this all brings.
Since their inception and rapid rise to the top of the local scene, they've shared the stage with Alabama 3, The Kooks, and Supergrass. The accolades and CV boosters have also been steadily pouring in, having been named BBC Southern Counties Radio Unsigned Demo Winners, XFM Rock Idol Runners Up, Live & Unsigned Finalists, but to highlight a few. Keen to harness this momentum and break 'You To Lose', the band will be starting a Ustream campaign, streaming a new acoustic track live every week, as well as gigging nationwide. Keep your eyes and ears peeled, Dollface are a power pop force you're going to be more than happy to reckon with.
