Online, May 24, 2013 (Newswire.com) - The Horizon Series program is an initiative of Indian Council for Cultural Relations, (ICCR) Ministry of External Affairs, and Government of India that creates a platform to discover, showcase and promote upcoming as well as established artists from across India.
The VIBGYOR Artists:
Devyani Parikh: Born in 1941, is a self-taught artist. Her current series on the Buddha merges brush styles, textures and media; lending a dimension of spirituality to her paintings. She believes that a good painting on the Buddha should exude a sense of tranquility, serenity and peace for the viewer.
Late Dinesh Gain: has left behind a legacy of colossal yet minute beauty of natural surroundings; flora, fauna, birds, blossoms, water and essential human figures forms the tapestry of his signature style of paintings. Born in 1956, He was a first class graduate from Indian College of Art and Draftsmanship, Kolkata.
Pragati Sharma Mohanty: is an industrial designer and architect by profession and an artist by passion. Her works are ethnic yet simplified and reflect her Indian roots. Often tied together by a story from the great Indian epics like the Mahabharata and the Ramayana to which she adds individuality through fine detailing.
Prerna Kewalramani: Born in 1963 in Mumbai Maharashtra. Most of Prerna's works are inspired by the sheer magnitude and energy of nature and the universe. By using vibrant, dynamic colors and her deliberate yet instinctive brush strokes, her paintings become an abstract expression of this energy.
Rajat Subhra Bandopadhyay: Rajat left his illustrious advertising career and returned to his passion of water colors in 2011. Water colour is his forte and he likes to capture nature at it's best on canvas. His current experiments further explore and develop his own style, characterized by brushstrokes that impart a sense of freedom of spirit.
Subodh Poddar: A graduate of the Sir J.J. Institute of Applied Art and a creative director in the advertising profession, he captures the divine confluence of the two art forms - dance and painting and freezes on canvas magical moments of performance that translate into exquisite works of art.
Vallery Puri: Her paintings have a vivacity that is visible in her personality. More of an autobiographical sojourn, her paintings are strongly influenced by the powers of nature and how it controls us. Her emotions spill on to her canvas in a way that is figurative, descriptive, busy at times but always simplistic, expressing her state of mind.
Dolna: Established in 2010, Dolna is a creative initiative, the brainchild of Ms. Mithu Basu, Dolna collaborates with relevant partners to create global platforms for artists of all genres to promote art through customized events, travel programs and commissioned corporate projects, thus explore new horizons for art, artists and audiences.
ICCR : Founded in 1950 by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, ICCR is about the communion of cultures, a facilitator for creative dialogue with other nations. It is a pre-eminent institution engaged in cultural diplomacy and the sponsor of intellectual exchanges between India and partner countries. It symbolizes India's great cultural and educational efflorescence in the years to come.
