Dolphin Offshore Oil Rigs implement CMO COMPLIANCE to manage inspection and compliance processes

Dolphin has been providing exploration and production services to the offshore oil and gas industry building for 150 years.

Dolphin has been providing exploration and production services to the offshore oil and gas industry building for 150 years. The Company headquarter is located in Oslo (Norway) and offshore activities are supported by operating offices situated in Stavanger (Norway), Aberdeen (Scotland), Carmen (Mexico) and Singapore.

As part of an initiative to reduce costs and improve performance, which can be particularly challenging in the rugged environment of offshore oil rig, Dolphin recognised the need to increase the efficiency of expensive inspection processes.

Dolphin worked with Firstline, CMO's Oil & Gas Partner, to realise a 80% time and thus cost savings for the end to end management of inspection processes on offshore oil rigs.

Solution:
CMO COMPLIANCE was implemented to manage inspection processes, and integrated with a Work Order System via standard CMO Webservices to provide the relevant inspection data for areas on offshore installations. Engineers synchronise inspection schedules wirelessly via satellite on their intrinsically safe mobile devices whilst onsite. RFID checkpoints enable correct inspection to be validated, and users identify themselves with onscreen signatures before completion. Rugged PDAs include hi res cameras to capture photographs of faults. Inspection data and faults are synced back to an onshore database to be managed via a web interface to closure. Inspection data is then shared with the Work Order System.

In this manner, CMO COMPLIANCE allowed Dolphin to automate workflow, data collection and reporting and manage risk, reduce costs and streamline business processes, thereby delivering organizational improvement and significant cost reduction.

Benefits:
The CMO COMPLIANCE solution provides many benefits to Dolphin:
• 80% direct costs savings through reduced man hours to perform, manage and report on inspection process.
• automation of NCR/Action closeout process and associated workflows
• reduced time performing audits, inspections and associated work when compared to the traditional paper based process
• reduced risk and thus insurance premiums providing business savings
• central reporting register with dashboard, KPI, benchmark and performance reports that can be broadcast to users on an ad hoc or scheduled basis
• improved visibility over the scheduling and management of compliance activities
• Instrinsically safe mobile devices
• User friendly interface designed for rugged oil & gas environment
provides critical knowledge and control enabling Dolphin to identify and eliminate risks before losses occur and improve operational performance
