Generous animal lovers could win a month's supply of treats for their own pet by donating to the Help for Bear fundraiser, which is raising funds for a seven-year-old dog's chemotherapy bills.
Bear, who is a Chow mix, is fighting a brave battle against a form of cancer called Chondroblastic Osteogenic Sarcoma. Unfortunately, Bear's owner Charlene Real is unable to afford the chemotherapy to save her beloved dog's life.
Illinois-based Charlene has tirelessly fundraised online to generate nearly half of the $3,000 needed to pay for Bear's vet bills, but more generous donors are needed to help raise the full amount by August 5th (shortly before Bear is due to start his chemo treatments).
Bear's owner, Charlene, says: " Bear has his bad days, where he won't be able to eat much and just lays around. He has his good days as well, when he gets very playful and loves to play with his toys and his aunt Jewel. When he is feeling really good, he eats all of his food and his aunt Jewel's."
Bear has already undergone radiation treatments which have improved his condition, Charlene adds: "The radiation has helped him a lot, the tumor is smaller and his eye looks better, and doesn't seem to bother him much. We are really hoping to be able to do chemotherapy now, so he can keep doing this well."
