Donor Next Door Luncheon To Honor Top Supporters Of South Florida's Nonprofits

LEAVE A LEGACY© hosts the 14th Annual Donor Next Door Luncheon at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 5 at Parrott Jungle Island, 1111 Parrot Jungle Trail, honoring the top donors and volunteers who make the work of nonprofits in South Florida possible.

South Florida nonprofits will honor their leading patrons whose commitments often go well beyond financial support at the annual LEAVE A LEGACY© 14th Annual Donor Next Door Luncheon at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 5 at Parrott Jungle Island, 1111 Parrot Jungle Trail

"As the economy continues to recover, we are mindful of the increased needs throughout our community," said Hank Raattama, co-chair of LEAVE A LEGACY©. "We are proud to acknowledge leadership and excellence, and we will continue to celebrate the donors who support the work of our non-profit sector."

This year's luncheon will also showcase the work of a nonprofit leader whose guidance and vision has created lasting change in the community. Harve A. Mogul will be awarded the Professional Advisor of the Year Award for his two decades at the helm of the United Way of Miami-Dade.

Jaret L. Davis, co-managing shareholder with Greenberg Traurig will receive the Ruth Shack Community Leadership Award for his work volunteer work with the University of Miami, and as a board member of Miami Children's Hospital, the American Diabetes Association, City Year and the Miami Coalition for Christians and Jews.

The award is given annually to a resident of Miami-Dade County age 40 or under who embodies the qualities that Ruth Shack is best known for: leadership, ethics, dedication and service to the Miami-Dade community.

"We believe the work of nonprofits raises the standard of living in the community," said Teresa Valdes-Fauli Weintraub, co-chair of LEAVE A LEGACY®. "But nonprofits wouldn't be able to do their part without the dedication of their supporters. The two go hand in hand."
