Doral Business Council Presents Seventh Annual International Achievement Awards

Three South Florida Entities and an Individual Recognized for International Efforts

Doral Business Council (DBC) presented its 7th Annual International Achievement Awards to Charlotte Gallogly, Baptist Health Systems, Miami Council for International Visitors (MCIV), and the Miami-Dade Economic and International Trade Board.

The International Achievement Awards breakfast was led by Diane Sanchez, CEO of Technology Foundation of the Americas (TFA), who shared the vision for making Miami the technology hub for Latin America and the Caribbean regions in the eastern corridor of the United States. TFA will host eMerge Americas next May, a large-scale technology conference that focuses on technology trends in the Latin American market. The conference showcases the newest start-ups, cutting-edge innovations, and latest developments in technology in the Americas. The conference will also host insightful presentations from industry leaders such as Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Receiving the Game Changer of the Year Award was Charlotte Gallogly, President of World Trade Center Miami. Ms. Gallogly has directed annual trade shows and events that serve more than 16,500 international business executives and generate more than $250 million in international sales. Over the past 14 years, the Center's trade shows and events have been visited by over 100,000 international executives and have generated more than $3.5 billion in international sales.

Baptist Health South Florida was presented with the Company of the Year Award. George W. Foyo, Executive Vice-President and Chief Administrative Officer of Baptist Health South Florida, accepted the award on behalf of the company. Mr. Foyo confirmed Baptist's role in bringing patients from the region to South Florida. He also shared that Baptist currently has 6 active projects and has a local presence in 11 cities across the Caribbean, South America, and Central America.

Miami Council for International Visitors received the Association of the Year Award. Executive Director Annette Alvarez accepted the award on behalf of the association. The MCIV serves as the official host for global leaders visiting South Florida and helps to connect them with local leaders of all disciplines, businesses, and communities.

Miami-Dade Economic Development and International Trade Board was recognized as Government Agency of the Year. Commissioner Jose "Pepe" Diaz and chairman of the board received the award. The purpose of the board is to solidify Miami-Dade County's position as a first class center of international trade. Today international trade supports more than 105,000 jobs in Miami-Dade County and is one of the key industries of the region.

"It's an honor to be part of a community of leaders of a caliber that is bar none," said Nelson Peсalver, DBC Chairman. "More and more Miami proves to the world this is an international city," he added.
